Graham Richardson and John Howard singing a duet! I never thought I’d see the day.
Or to stretch Richo’s analogy, they’re dancing the same tango.
Richo writing in The Australian 30 November:
I can never respect anyone who rats on the party that spent money and used precious resources to get that person elected. As the old saying goes: “You dance with the one that brung ya.”
Howard quoted in The Australian 27 November:
I think it is always important to remember that they are overwhelmingly there because of the patronage of their own party, and they should never forget it.
Noble words, protecting the powerful. What’s next? King and Country? I support loyalty, but not blind loyalty.
Members of Parliament should have minds of their own. Values of their own. Courage to use them.
